Last month, through the generosity of our donors, Pancreatic Cancer Cure Foundation (PCCF) had the privilege and honor of presenting Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center (SKCC) at Jefferson Health a check for $26,500.
Our partnership with Jefferson/Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center goes back to 2015, when in our very first year and our first event, all of the funds raised were donated to Jefferson Health. For us, Jefferson was where Amy (Cygan) Spier, who was our inspiration behind PCCF, received most of her pancreatic cancer treatment. It was also a place where great and wonderful things were happening on the research front. Our partnership with Jefferson Health keeps getting stronger and we hope to continue to grow into the future. Most of our funding to Jefferson/SKCC has been directed to help support the pancreatic cancer research that they do (translational and conceptual research) and a portion of the funding that we direct to Jefferson has gone to compassionate care. They put both of those funding elements to extremely good use and it’s our goal to keep growing that funding. The need is great and the application is has been excellent at Jefferson.
During our visit to Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center (SKCC) at Jefferson Health in center city Philadelphia we spoke with the development team and a few researchers about the advancements being made in the lab, and the drive and passion that they all have to continue the great work on pancreatic cancer research.
