2023 Fox Chase Cancer Center – Together Facing Pancreatic Cancer

On Thursday, November 16, 2023, the Pancreatic Cancer Cure Foundation (PCCF) attended Together Facing Pancreatic Cancer, an educational workshop for patients, survivors and caregivers on the latest treatments and therapies at Fox Chase Cancer Center. It’s an evening for everyone to come together and commemorate each other’s pancreatic cancer journey and also remember those who we have lost to this deadly disease.

This year’s event was unique in that 6-year pancreatic cancer survivor Nick Pifani from Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN), shared his own survivor story, which began at Fox Chase Cancer Center. Throughout the different chapters of his story, moderator Dr. Sanjay Reddy asked panelists to chime in and apply their area of expertise to his story–both recounting where medicine and “standard of care” were at the beginning of Nick’s journey compared to the advancements of today.

Nick is a testament to the level of care and treatment at Fox Chase Cancer Center, their aggressive, out-of-the-box research, and their dedicated oncology team.

The evening concluded with a special PurpleLight ceremony in the courtyard at Fox Chase Cancer Center.

“During the remembrance ceremony, families and friends stood and illuminated a purple glow stick when the name of their loved one was read. As the purple glow filled the sky, participants were reminded of the reason we are all fighting to end this disease.”
